Today the Pittsburgh Steelers created 3 plus million dollars in cap space by restructuring the contract of linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
Pittsburgh turned $6.63 million of his base salary into a signing bonus. Timmons new 2015 base salary is $870,000. The move creates $3.32 million of cap space this year, but Timmons’ 2016 cap hit should be north of $15 million.
This means next year expect the Steelers to either give Timmons another contract, or move on from him. That will be a huge contract for a linebacker come 2016.
