Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor is expected to sit out week 1

Seahawks defensive back Kam Chancellor says the team is working harder than ever
Seahawks defensive back Kam Chancellor will miss week one

Kam Chancellor’s hold out is starting to get serious. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor is “now expected” to sit out Week 1.

Chancellor has made it known he’s willing to miss games in order to get a new contract from the Seahawks. Not showing up for Seattle’s first practice Wednesday almost assures he won’t play the opener. Dion Bailey will get the start in Chancellor’s place next to FS Earl Thomas.
OvertheCap.com lists that Chancellor is eighth among safeties this season, Chancellor’s salary is basically tied for the most to a strong safety (Reshad Jones). The Seahawks traded for Kelcie McCray earlier this week, and they may be forced to play him as well in Chancellor’s absence.
