Jarrett Boykin started off his career in Jacksonville, when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He has also played for the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers, but could he be headed back to the Packers? He played college football at Virginia Tech.
Boykin had nine catches in three preseason games for the Panthers but didn’t catch any passes from starting quarterback Cam Newton. Boykin caught 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns for the Packers in 2013 but caught just three passes last year.
Boykin was released by the Panthers yesterday during roster cuts, and could end up back to the place where he had a huge season in 2013. With Jordy Nelson out for the year, the team is looking for a veteran player to come in and help Randall Cobb.
