Vikings paid Blair Walsh a ton of money and he is sucking right now
Did the Minnesota Vikings give Blair Walsh too much money too soon? Vikings put their trust in kicker Blair Walsh at the beginning of training camp, by giving him a four-year contract extension that included $5.25 million in guaranteed money.
The problem is he has been horrible in the preseason and now the team is forced to deal with him as their kicker because they paid him a ton of money.
Since last December Walsh hasn’t been the same kind of dependable kicker the Vikings had when he went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2012, or even when he drilled 26 of 30 field goals in 2013.
Since Week 14 last season, Walsh is 7-for-16 in games, and 2-for-6 in the preseason.
Walsh went 0-for-3 in Saturday’s win over the Raiders and even missed one of his extra-point attempts.
“It didn’t feel real good with how I hit the ball obviously, and the results showed that,” said Walsh. “I have to do better. Preseason or regular season, that cannot happen, and I know that.”
The Vikings are not concerned with their kicker but I would be….
