Saints newly acquired running back C.J. Spiller need surgery

C.J. Spiller is now a New Orleans Saint, and his career as a Saint has began just like Jairus Byrd’s career. Many were upset that the Bills let C.J. Spiller go, but the team did replace him with LeSean McCoy.  Now the Saints were hoping to get Drew Brees another scat back that can make a difference like Darren Sproles once did.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday that Spiller underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee Friday, according to sources informed of his situation. One source described it as a “clean up.” ESPN first reported Spiller’s surgery.

According to Rapoport, the internal thought was for Spiller to take care of the issue now so that the running back will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Spiller hadn’t practiced in a full capacity since sitting out a team scrimmage last Friday.
