Mike Tomlin says bringing in Mike Vick was necessary; Have not signed him yet

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin talked to reporters after practice and said bringing in Mike Vick was necessary because Bruce Gradkowski’s injuries.

“We felt that it was necessary, obviously,’’ Tomlin said of the move to bring in Vick. “Bruce has missed a lot of time throughout the preseason, and now with this injury and not having any timetable at this juncture for his return we thought it was prudent to get established veterans in to take a look so we are going through that procedure with him.”

Tomlin talked about the attributes of Vick, a veteran of 12 NFL seasons.

“There’s not a throw on the field he can’t make from an arm-strength-standpoint, he’s a very experienced guy at what he does at this point in his career. And obviously the mobility is still unique even at 35.”
