Johnny Manziel had a very solid preseason game this week against the Bills, but his elbow is a little sore. So far in preseason the second-year quarterback has completed 17-of-29 passes for 160 yards and one touchdown.
Johnny Manziel left Browns practice after his throwing arm “started to get a little sore,” according to coach Mike Pettine. The second-year passer is unlikely to practice Monday after he was seen pointing at the elbow during 11-on-11s, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer. Manziel experienced similar stiffness before the team’s first preseason game, but that didn’t keep him from playing against the Redskins.
Pettine said after practice: “We don’t anticipate it being anything serious. I’ll know more when I talk to (trainer) Joe Sheehan.” Pettine added that until the medical staff tells him it’s more than just a usage injury, he’s not worried.
This is likely a precautionary measure, but a smart one by the team.
