Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe underwent back surgery; Could miss time

Kansas City Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters on Tuesday that DT Dontari Poe suffered a herniated disk in his back and has since undergone surgery, per Terez A. Paylor.

Dontari Poe timeline:

  • – Hurt back in OTAs
  • – Had two epidurals
  • – Diagnosed as herniated disk
  • – Surgery on July 15
  • – Out until “early season”

Dontari Poe is one of the best young interior defensive lineman in the NFL, this is a huge blow. A back injury for a big man is never a good thing.
