The Cleveland Browns paid over 5 million dollars a year to bring Josh McCown in to be their starter, and now their head coach is not guaranteeing he will start week 1.
“I wouldn’t say I’m guaranteeing that Josh is going to be the starter against the Jets,” Pettine told reporters Monday via The Plain-Dealer.
Pettine says their is separation between McCown and Manziel, but would not comment on how much further behind Manziel is.
“I would say there is (separation),” said Pettine. “Josh’s skillset is very different than Johnny’s. … Having been with Flip (offensive coordinator John DeFilippo) before, he’s that much further ahead.”
