Demaryius Thomas is expected to skip mandatory mini camp for Broncos
The Denver Broncos’ star receiver Demaryius Thomas has been a no-show through the team’s conditioning and organized team activities (OTAs) this offseason and his absence is expected to miss the team’s mandatory camp this week accoridng to Mike Klis.
The term “mandatory” refers to players under contract. Thomas is not under contract because he has not signed the $12.823 million franchise tag the Broncos tendered him.
Because Thomas is not under contract, the Broncos can’t fine him $72,920 for skipping the minicamp. The two sides have until July 15 to work out a multiyear contract extension; otherwise Thomas will have little choice but to play the 2015 season on his one-year deal.
