Colts linebacker Robert Mathis hopes to be back by September from Achilles injury
The Indianapolis Colts to me already have the best team on paper in the NFL. Give them back Robert Mathis in September to make a late push and they have a great shot at winning the Super Bowl. Mathis missed all of 2014 after suffering a torn Achilles tendon during a private workout last September. Mathis suffered the injury while serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Mathis now feels he will be back by September to help make a playoff push.
“I said it. I meant it. I’ll be back by September,” Mathis told WTHR-TV in Indianapolis. “I’m back running. Training and rehab (are) full swing,” Mathis said. “I’m ahead of schedule and just trying to stay ahead of it. Guys view me as their leader and I’m busting my hump to get back out there with them because it wasn’t easy to sit back and watch them play without me.”
This is great news for Colts fans. Mathis is a candidate for the PUP list, which will allow him to return after week 6.
