Mcdaniels has good quickness out of his routes, and shows exceptional agility and balance going up in the air in traffic to make the catch. Cole has good quick feet, especially at the beginning of the route. His change of direction is good for a player of his size. Mcdaniels shows good flexibility and coordination quickly adjusting to poorly thrown passes in time to make the catch.
COMPETITIVENESS                            SECTION GRADE: 6.5

Clutch Play

Team Player

Pride / Quit

Mcdaniels shows good toughness, fighting for the ball in traffic, and for extra yards after the catch. He doesn’t shy away from contact. He has the ability to make clutch catches, with his size both in the red zone and in traffic. Cole’s production steadily improved each year in college, but really jumped up his senior year. Mcdaniels during his senior year was fairly consistent game in and game out, finishing with 72 catches for 920 yards and 7 td’s. Cole is a good team player who is well liked by his teammates. He is a prideful player with lofty goals to make the NFL, and his game shows no sign of quit in it.
MENTAL ALERTNESS                             SECTION GRADE: 6.5
Learn / Retain

Mcdaniels appears to be a smart player, running many routes from each WR position on the field. He looks to have the game in mind at all times, not reacting to negative plays badly. His concentration would appear to be good.
STRENGTH / EXPLOSION                             SECTION GRADE: 7.0
Body Type Mcdaniels has an NFL frame standing at 6’4 210 pounds, and has stayed healthy through the majority of his college career. He shows ok explosion, mostly off the line of scrimmage, and sometimes through would be tacklers.

Cole shows very good play strength, breaking tackles to gain yards after the catch quite often.

Play Strength
GDE        CATEGORY               COMMENTS DESCRIPTION                 GAMES VIEWED                 COMBINE NOTES
7.3 Hands Very soft hands, very few drops Viewed via hudl 225 REPS N/A

7.0 Initial Quicks Great quicks off the LOS
6.7 Clean Release. Good footwork allows him a clean release often
6.5 Release VS Jam Shows good use of footwork and use of hands to combat the press
7.5 Patterns Cole is a very crisp route runner and consistently gets open because of this
7.5 ADJUST TO BALL He adjust to the ball very well on the deep pass, or when the QB make a bad throw, or has to throw to a spot away from the defender.
6.5 R.A.C Mcdaniels has good run after the catch as he breaks the initial tackle often.
6.5 Deep Threat A good deep threat in college, not sure if he has the speed to be a consistent deep threat in the NFL
7.0 Hand Eye Coor. Very good hand eye coordination, catching the ball in a crowd of people. CRITICAL FACTORS
6.3 Blocking Cole shows the ability to be a decent run blocker. SIZE          7.5                                           ATH. ABILITY 6.7

HANDS     7.0                                          COMPETES 7.0

PLAY SPEED    6.5                                INSTINCTS 6.5

5.5 Return Ability Minimal return ability with his size and limited speed
6.5 FUMBLE / ERRORS Has good strong hands, rarely fumbles. Protects the ball well.
Cole Mcdaniels has ideal NFL size at 6’4 210. He uses good footwork to gain the advantage at the LOS and superior route running to beat the defender and get open. He uses his soft  hands to make the catch instead of his body. While his run blocking is decent, it will have to improve at the pro level. He has good, but not great speed. While he always showed flashes, his college numbers were pedestrian until his senior season. Playing vs small schools makes it difficult to project how he would fare against top talent.
Cole Mcdaniels is a big physical wide receiver who uses good footwork to get a clean release and runs very good routes. He has the ability to go up and get the ball in traffic, and to break tackles. He is not super-fast, but fast enough to get open and make plays. He makes a good red zone target, and eventually a #2 WR. Because of being at a small school and not playing against top talent I project Mcdaniels to be a 6th round draft pick, though if he gets invited to the combine and performs well, he could go higher.
