He has the ability to make clutch catches, with his size both in the red zone and in traffic. Cole’s production steadily improved each year in college, but really jumped up his senior year. STRONG POINTS | WEAKNESSES
Cole Mcdaniels has ideal NFL size at 6’4 210. He uses good footwork to gain the advantage at the LOS and superior route running to beat the defender and get open. He uses his soft hands to make the catch instead of his body. | While his run blocking is decent, it will have to improve at the pro level. He has good, but not great speed. While he always showed flashes, his college numbers were pedestrian until his senior season. Playing vs small schools makes it difficult to project how he would fare against top talent.
SUMMARY | ||||||||
Cole Mcdaniels is a big physical wide receiver who uses good footwork to get a clean release and runs very good routes. He has the ability to go up and get the ball in traffic, and to break tackles. He is not super-fast, but fast enough to get open and make plays. He makes a good red zone target, and eventually a #2 WR. Because of being at a small school and not playing against top talent I project Mcdaniels to be a 6th round draft pick, though if he gets invited to the combine and performs well, he could go higher. |
