Alan Ball who turns 30 soon turned down a deal with the Carolina Panthers to sign with the Chicago Bears.
The former Illinois product signed a one-year contract with the team Friday and is expected to compete for playing time on the outside in the new defense after starting the last two seasons for the Jaguars.
Of his 43 career starts, 22 have come in the last two years for the seventh-round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2007.
