Giants release DE Kiwanuka; Move saves them 4.825 million

Today the New York Giants released Mathias Kiwanuka their veteran defensive end.

He generated just 2.5 sacks in 558 snaps last season. 12 days shy of his 32nd birthday, Kiwanuka is also recovering from knee surgery.

He won’t be offered guaranteed money in free agency until he can prove he’s healthy, and who knows if that is possible. The team could turn back to a famikiar face. Osi Umeniyora said today he would love to return to New York and suit up for the Giants. I don’t know if that is an option right now, but it does make sense.

NFL Draft Diamonds was created to assist the underdogs playing the sport. We call them diamonds in the rough.
