Eagles would be smart to release or trade LeSean McCoy
Chip Kelly is now over the Philadelphia Eagles personnel, but I feel his first move he should make is try to trade or release LeSean McCoy.
The NFL is a money game, and LeSean McCoy is set to make $9.75 million next season, but he’d count nearly $12 million against the cap if the Eagles keep him on roster.
The Eagles will have roughly $20 million in cap space if they do nothing with McCoy heading into the offseason. However, if they release/trade the running back, they’ll save $10 million in cap money, giving them plenty more to work with this off-season.
The team has to re-sign Brandon Graham, and Jeremy Maclin as well as get Fletcher Cox under a long term deal. McCoy was one guy that the team truly did not need this year. He did not help them, and if they can land something for him, it could help the team grow in the future.
