The NFL threatened to eject Marshawn Lynch if he wore the Gold Cleats
On Saturday, Marshawn Lynch had every intention of wearing the gold cleats in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Packers. But once the NFL got wind of his plans, they contacted the Seahawks and threatened to eject him from the game if he wore the non-sanctioned footwear.
Details via FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer:
The Seahawks have been dealing with drama yesterday, last night, this morning, and it all centers around these gold cleats that Marshawn Lynch had planned to wear in this game. The NFL found out … and threatened that if Lynch … wears them in this game he’ll be ejected.
“When Marshawn was told about that, obviously he wasn’t happy. He pushed back. I talked to a league official today who said, ‘Yes, in fact, we did threaten that. More likely, though, we just won’t allow him in the game until he puts on the proper cleats.’ But the Seahawks have been trying to convince (Lynch) … to wear the proper cleats. They still don’t know the answer to the question.”
It was so bad, Lynch ended up wearing plain Jane black cleats out on the field. The NFl really is the No Fun League….
