Top Notes

Talk to the hand: Waiting on word on Murray

What happened: Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray underwent surgery for a broken left hand on Monday. In surgery, plates and screws were placed on the bone to hold it together.

Player/team outlook: Murray’s quest for 2,000 rushing yards will definitely fall short if he can’t play on Sunday. There’s no underestimating his importance for the Cowboys this season as the team’s battle for the playoffs takes a major hit without him.

Fantasy recommendation: It’s pins-and-needles time if you’ve got Murray and are playing in your league’s championship this week. Make sure you have backups in case he’s ruled out at game time.

Watch the Fantasy Doctor provide information on Murray’s surgical procedure.

Hilton’s hammy a cause for concern in Indy

What happened: Colts WR T.Y. Hilton played through a hamstring injury on Sunday and an MRI on Monday came back negative.

Player/team outlook: As the team’s leading receiver and a favorite target of Andrew Luck, it’s important for Hilton to be able to go. The MRI result is huge for the Colts who need him for a long playoff run. His ability to play Sunday will depend on his pain, flexibility and strength.

Fantasy recommendation: Just like Murray above, stay tuned all the way until kickoff for news on Hilton. Rest is the best medicine and the Colts might want to give him the week off. Although he was a non-factor last week, Donte Moncrief could make for a low-end WR3 if Hilton doesn’t play.

Knee injury KOs Parker for rest of season

What happened: Bucks’ rookie forward Jabari Parker tore the ACL in his left knee on Monday night.

Player/team outlook: This is a real shame for Parker, as the number two overall draft selection was having a nice rookie season. The Bucks were seeing a surprise turnaround so far this year and Parker’s play was one of the main reasons. Hopefully, he’ll get healthy and be able to return back to full strength next season.

Fantasy recommendation: There’s no reason to keep Parker on your one-year rosters and only those in very deep keeper leagues have to think about stashing him away for next season. Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo will likely be the beneficiary of extra minutes in Parker’s absence.

Here comes Krejci! Center appears ready for return.

What happened: A groin injury has kept David Krejci out of the Bruins’ lineup for a few weeks, but the top-line center is now with the team.

Player/team outlook: Krejci was off to a nice start with 10 points (3 goals and 7 assists) in 11 games. Upon return, he should once again take the center spot on Milan Lucic’s line.

Fantasy recommendation: Those that held on to Krejci are likely about to be rewarded with an active center. This could be your last chance to make a deal for him without having to part with too much.
