Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Rodney Gunter, DT, Delaware State University

Rodney Gunter

Where do you play college football?

Delaware State University

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

I was the underdog coming out of high school only one offer which was Delaware State.

How did you choose your school?

I only played one year of high school football, so I didn’t have the exposure like the other kids I was competing against.

Where are you from?

Lake Hamilton Florida.

Who is your role model, and why?

My biggest role model is my mother one of the strongest individuals I know on earth.

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

I have met with over 20 scouts.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played football and Basketball

Did you play any other positions in football?

Fullback, O- line, Tight end.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I would say my athletic ability of being 300+ plus pounds.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

When I watching I’m watching the offensive lineman thoroughly. I’m looking for his weakness and strengths. I’m watching for hints during pass or run majority of times offensive lineman are leaning heavy on their hand for run and light on their hand for pass.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was growing up without a father figure in my life. I overcame this obstacle, all thanks to my mother and to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

I pray and listen to music.

What is your biggest strength?

I’m a fighter love to compete no matter what is the score.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is being a sore loser.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I will compare myself to J.J Watt we possess the same versatility to some extent. Also I have the potential to be great as him one day.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I love the game of football I’m determine to make the roster no matter what position I would play. I certainly will be worth the investment.

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

My favorite player growing up was Adrian Peterson he is very impressive watching him play and run the ball. I’m also a Tampa Bay fan it is only right I be a fan a hometown team.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

My mother, Adrian Peterson and Lebron James.
