Draft Diamonds Prospect Interivew: Deont’e Swinton, WR, Gardner-Webb University

Deont’e Swinton 

Where do you play college football?

Gardner-Webb University 

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

How did you choose your school?

I felt like it was the best choice for me

Where are you from?

Phenix City, Alabama 

Who is your role model, and why?

My Aunt! She is a very strong women who took her sister took two children in (my sister and I). 

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

None at the moment

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Baseball, Basketball, and I did Track and Field 

Did you play any other positions in football?

No I been playing receiver my whole life.

At your position, what separates you from others?

My speed and knowledge of the game 

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

The first thing I look for is the different coverages the defense may play. Then I try to find all the DBs weaknesses. I try to correlate all of that in my preparation for a game. 

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

My former teammate Keon Williams. We use to go at it during practice every single day.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Randall Cobb, because we have tons of similarities in the way we play the game 

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

I been through a lot of trails and tribulations through out my whole life, but the biggest one would have to be losing my Mom when I was six. Its still hard to cope with, but I just prayed to God for understanding and guidance. 

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Before I step on any game field I always take a knee and pray

What is your biggest strength?

My speed

What is your biggest weakness?

Blocking until the whistles blows needs some work 

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I been knocked down my whole life and I always got back up fighting. Nothing will stop me from doing what I want to do. My drive and determination brought me a long way. That’s why I made it this far and I promise you I am not looking back. 

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

Torry Holt and the Rams 

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

My mom, My grandma, My grandad
