Patriots release former Dolphins safety Don Jones

The New England Patriots announced today that they have released S Don Jones.

Jones, 24, was claimed off waivers from Miami and awarded to the Patriots on Sept. 1, 2014. He played in nine of the first 11 games for the Patriots and registered on defensive tackle and seven special teams tackles.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick by Miami (250th overall) out of Arkansas State in the 2013 NFL Draft. He played in all 16 games as a rookie with the Dolphins and led the team with 11 special teams tackles.
