Bills need to trade C.J. Spiller because they do not know how to utilize him

spillerThe Buffalo Bills once led the NFL in rushing. That actually happened last year when C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson were the two headed monster everyone was expecting them to be.  The Buffalo Bills this year however, have abandoned the run.  They do not know how to utilize their best player on their team.  C.J. Spiller was a beast out of Clemson, the guy could do it all.  He was a touchdown machine for Clemson

He scored 51 touchdowns over his four years at Clemson and he was able to do it in all phases. He has not been so successful in Buffalo however.

He has a total of 20 career touchdowns in Buffalo, and the guy has never changed. He is the same back, but the Bills want to use him as a ground and pound back.  The Bills run Spiller all the time through the middle gaps of the line.  Spiller does what he knows how and tries to kick it out and rely on his speed, rather than just hit the hole with power.  The Bills want Spiller to do something he is not capable of doing.  Instead of using Spiller where he is good on the field, the team continues to use him the same way.  This year (Not listed above) Spiller has a receiving touchdown and a kick return touchdown. He does not have a rushing touchdown.  A matter of fact he has a lousy 3.4 yard per carry ratio, and he has fumble twice already.  Why is that?

I will tell you why:

The Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator is about as valuable as a High School Head Coach in the State of Florida.  The Buffalo Bills never perform a screen pass with C.J. Spiller.  They have ran this play with both Fred Jackson and their wide outs, but never Spiller.  They do not know how to get Spiller in the open field one on one with a defender.  Because the OC Nate Hackett becomes frustrated with the performance of Spiller, he instead removes him from the field.  What does that do?  That actually hurts your team.  Spiller needs to be accounted for no matter where he is on the field, because of his speed and ability to get into the open field.  So when you remove him from the field, you open up a can of worms because teams can now stack the box on the quarterback.

This is what C.J. Spiller can do with a quality offensive coordinator. This was his 2012 highlights. After watching this what do you feel Spiller is worth?  If you say anything less than a 2nd round pick you are crazy. If you utilize Spiller correctly you have a potential Hall of Fame back.  The way the Bills are using Spiller, he will be out the league in a few years. They better trade him, or hire an offensive coordinator like Chan Gailey who was able to get the best out of him.
