The Lions have lost four starters on defense and are still ranked #1

The Detroit Lions hired Teryl Austin the former Baltimore Ravens defensive genius and it has paid off big time. The Detroit Lions have lost four starters and are still the best defense in the NFL.

@ttwentyman: The #Lions have lost Bentley, Lawson, Ihedigbo and Tulloch to injury and are still the No. 1 defense in the NFL.

The Lions defense has been impressive.

The Lions held Rodgers to just 162 yards on 16-of-27 passing. They kept Eddie Lacy and Green Bay’s running game in check to the tune of 76 total yards.

The 223 yards allowed by the Lions defense marked the lowest output by the Packers when Rodgers started and played the entire game (since 2008).

The 162 passing yards by Rodgers was also his lowest passing tally against Detroit in games he started and finished. His previous low was 173 at Green Bay Dec. 9, 2012.
