Today there are already reports saying that Johnny Manziel has began to run away with the QB race in Cleveland. Citing a Browns source, ESPN’s Bob Holtzman reported that Manziel has overtaken the sixth-year pro in the battle for the starting job after his promising performance in Saturday night’s 13-12 loss to the Lions. A source told cleveland.com that Manziel has the momentum and that the superior talent.
I am a little confused though, because I thought Brian Hoyer looked way better than Johnny Manziel, and he did it against the Lions first team defense. I do not know what the Browns are trying to do with this report, maybe they are trying to give their rookie quarterback some confidence. That is the only thing I can think of, but I am not sure Manziel is ready.
I like the idea of starting a rookie quarterback and letting him learn, but if he is not better than the starting quarterback then why rush things? I am a little lost with this report.
