So we hope you enjoy our series called GET TO KNOW – Free Agent Edition. Today’s Get to know series will focus on Monte Gaddis the former standout linebacker from Towson University, and we feel at NFL Draft Diamonds, you will want to know all about him.
Grade You Started Football: 4th grade
High School: Cleveland Central Catholic High School
Position/Positions: Running Back/ Safety
College: Towson University
Position/Positions: Middle and Weak Linebacker
Jersey Number: 11
Football Mentor/Inspiration: My inspiration is my mother, watching her struggle growing up as a kid made me even hungrier to play in the NFL. We never had the money for most things, but she always made it work for me and my siblings.
Favorite Slogan: Let’s Eat
Proudest Football Moment/Memory: Winning my first championship at 12 years old, while playing for the George Monroe All-Stars a Muny League team in Cleveland. I cried after we won, that’s when I knew I loved the game.
Funniest Football Memory: In high school, watching a teammate go to the opponents side line during a play so he would get flagged for having 12 players on the field. All the players were dying laughing on the field because he was so serious.
Favorite Food: Glazed Donuts
Best On-Field Performance: Senior year at Towson, playoff game versus Eastern Illinois, where I recorded 14 tackles and a sack on Patriots QB now, Jimmy Garoppolo in heavy snow.
What Do You Miss Most About Football: The team bonding and the violent hitting
Football Philosophy: Out work everyone, even when no one is watching.
Player You Model Your Game After: London Fletcher
Were You Happy Of Your Pro Day Results: No it was pouring rain that day, and I was recorded running a 4.81 forty. We also was cut short before we did any field drills. I was going to do linebacker and safety drills, so no one was able to witness how fluent I move.
What Would You Want NFL Scouts To Know About You: I will outwork the next man, not to just make the roster but to make an impact for the team. You will not find any off the field or characteristic issues with me because I take football serious and is always focused. Even though my measurable’s are “undersized” for my position, my heart says different. Motivating and inspiring my teammates is a gift that I have, I always put the team before me. If I receive that one workout, I guarantee that they will sign me after the workout. I have a motor like no other and I will do what it takes to WIN! I am what you call a football player, and I won’t stop until I get an opportunity to shock the world again, it’s nothing new to me by getting overlooked.
Describe Or Name Some Of Your Daily Workouts: I do different core workouts everyday and drills to make my feet faster and hips flexible. I also do a lot of 1on 1’s, I feel I can be a great cover linebacker.
What Did Team Captain Of Your Team Teach You: Being a captain taught me to do everything the right way since everyone is looking up to you. Not to sound cocky, but I have been captain for almost every team I’ve played for, so it’s nothing new to me or nothing I can’t do. I love leading and inspiring.
What Was The Toughest Role As A Middle Linebacker: The toughest role I would say is knowing what the 10 other players are doing and their responsibility each play.
If I Said A Player Played All 16 Games, Had 124 tackles, 8.5 Tfls, 2.5 Sacks, 2 Interceptions, 2 Forced Fumbles, His Senior Year, What Would You Say About That Player: From just looking at the stats, I would say that player is all over the field and has a great nose for the ball. I would be surprised if he didn’t get a workout with a team just to see how he moves and his numbers.
