E.J. Manuel has a lot riding on him in 2014

E.J. Manuel is a very strong armed quarterback, but can he get the Bills to the playoffs? The Bills have missed every year since 1999, and currently have the longest streak in the NFL. It is hard to stomach, but last year E.J. showed promise. This year his OC Nathaniel Hackett feels he is ready has a much better understanding than he did last year.

“He’s doing a very good job. He’s put in a lot of work, all the quarterbacks are. They’re understanding the system, understanding what we’re trying to get,” Hackett said, via the team’s website. “It’s nice to see him make plays within the pocket, step up, find his check downs, throw the ball down the field a couple times. He’s really starting to get it all. It was funny, when he came into minicamp he was like, ‘Alright, no more new installs, let’s work on what we’ve been doing.’ I think that’s a refresher for a quarterback that he knows what he’s doing right now with what we’ve got in.”

Manuel has a better receiving core around him than he did last year, and the Bills stacked up their line and backfield. It will be interesting to see what he will be able to do with more time and more weapons. Last year E.J. Led an amazing 4th quarter drive to beat the Carolina Panthers which really made me believe he could be a stud in the NFL.

All E.J. has to do is manage the game, and if he can do that the Bills will win.
