Bills WR Sammy Watkins will be rewarded in Fort Myers

Sammy Watkins the former Fort Myers High School superstar will be rewarded along with others from the Cape Coral, Naples and Fort Myers area by the  James Brunson Youth Development Foundation, Inc., banquet on Friday in Fort Myers.

The Brunson Foundation is a nonprofit organization, dedicated to providing academic scholarships to high school seniors wishing to further their education. The banquet will be at the City Pier, 1300 Edwards Drive, with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Current and former area athletes will be receiving lifetime achievement and recognition awards.

Those include former South Fort Myers star Sammy Watkins, the No. 4 overall pick of the Buffalo Bills in May’s NFL Draft, Fort Myers High grad Tiara Brown who is a member of the USA Boxing Team, and Estero grad and former NFL player Anthony Henry. Former NBA player Walt Wesley, a Dunbar grad, Graham, former North Fort Myers running back Noel Devine, and Former Cape Coral-Mariner star and University of Florida and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham also will be honored.
