Mike Zimmer has been in the NFL for quite a long time, and when that opportunity finally came for him to get a head-coaching job, he almost turned it down.
After he lost out on yet another job in early January, Zimmer almost walked away from the entire coaching-search process, and was thinking of not showing up to the second Vikings coaching search.
“I almost didn’t go (on the second interview with Minnesota), yeah. I was so disappointed,” Zimmer told FOX Sports’ at Saturday’s NFL career-development symposium. “It was like, ‘Why even do this?’ It was to that point. I figured I was getting too old. I thought, ‘Forget this.’
The Vikings and their fan base should be happy to have a coach like Zimmer. The guy is motivated, hungry and a defensive genius. Who would have been given the job if Zimmer did pull out? Good thing we will never find out, because that coaching search could’ve been ugly…..
