Vikings claim former Browns cornerback off the waiver wire

The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday afternoon they’d claimed cornerback Julian Posey off waivers from the Cleveland Browns, waiving cornerback Kip Edwards to make room for him.

Posey played five games for the Browns last season, recording six tackles and one sack after Cleveland signed him to its practice squad last September. The 5-foot-11 cornerback had been with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, where Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards was the linebackers coach (and former Mike Zimmer assistant Kevin Coyle is the defensive coordinator).

Kip Edwards has been released now by several teams, after signing a undrafted free agent rookie contract with the Bills. Posey is a good player and will probably compete for playing time in Minnesota.
