GET TO KNOW – Jawon Chisholm, RB, Akron

NFL Draft Diamonds has teamed up with Joseph Muia a very solid up and coming scout, to put together a series for our readers called Get to Know. What this series will do is allow you to be a featured on our site, whether you are a freshman or a senior in college.  This is a series to help get players at any school gain exposure.  We always strive to assist players that have the passion to make it to the next level.  So we hope you enjoy our series called GET TO KNOW. Today’s Get to know series will focus on Jawon Chisholm a big running back from Akron that I am very high on as well, and we feel at NFL Draft Diamonds, you will want to know all about him.

 AKA: Chiz

Grade You Started Football: At age 5 (kindergarten)

High School: Harrisburg High School

Position/Positions: All-purpose Running back

College: University of Akron

Position/Positions: All-purpose Running back

Jersey Number: 7

Football Mentor/Inspiration: My inspiration is my 2 year old daughter named Paityn Chisholm. I want her to have the best life possible. Also coming from a small city filled with so much potential, but people get caught up into the wrong things. I want to show them that anything is possible when you believe in God and focus and do what’s required to get to their destination in life. My inspiration and fire comes from also only having one offer. Every time I hit the field I feel like there’s a chip on my shoulder to go prove everyone wrong. Who pasted on me.

Favorite Slogan: #HumbleHustle

Proudest Football Moment/Memory: Winning against our rival Kent State last year 2013-14, and winning the wagon wheel back which is the wheel we compete for each year. Just to see my teammates so happy, and enjoying themselves made me feel like the happiest person alive knowing you helped your brothers accomplish history.

Funniest Football Memory: My 8th grade football season we played against Chambersburg, Pa. I was running the ball and did a spin into a guy who knocked my chin strap loose and I seen stars. I thought it was funny because too this day I keep my head on the swivel when I spin. I now talk about it often when a funny football story comes up in a conversation I’m in.

Favorite Food: Steak and shrimp

Football Philosophy: Whatever happens is going to happen. Play every play like your last.

Goals/Aspirations for 2014-2015: To be the best teammate I can, and win games.

Career Goals: To do my best each game for as long as football last. Also, given my children something to be proud about at the end of my career. When they can look back they can say their father got his degree. In hope they fall in the same direction.

Favorite Football Team: Harrisburg High School (Molded me into who I am today)

Who Will Win The Super Bowl: Denver Broncos

Favorite Down Time: Relax with my daughter or Watching discovery channel.

What Would You Want College Football Fans To Know About You: I’m 22 years from a small city which is a population of 49,000 people named Harrisburg, Pa which is the capitol. I give my all each day. I have overcome many life obstacles. I only had one offer coming out of high school. I take advantage of every opportunity that’s given.
