Former Lion CB Chris Houston will not be ready until at least August or September

The possibility of Chris Houston returning to the Lions is probably not that far fetched, because Houston told the Austin American-Statesman that his release this month was a mutual decision designed to help him get healthy for the fall, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Houston suffered a toe injury when someone stepped on his foot during a December loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He underwent surgery in May to relieve pressure caused by a genetic condition that has been an off-and-on issue since high school.

He told the paper that he expects to be cleared by August or September, and his agent, Jonathan Feinsod, said last week that Houston should make “a full recovery and (play) football again this year.”

Do not be surprised if the Lions bring Houston back at a cheaper rate when he is healthy.
