Chiefs should attempt to trade for Andre Johnson

In Houston, Andre Johnson has been holding out because he is disapointed in the team’s attempt to move forward.

He is planning to hold out of all the mandatory mini-camps and is currently becoming a cancer in the locker room by not showing up.

While I agree he deserves better, the team likely does not envision the situation the same way. As a business the team wants to win, but after making zero attempts to find a starting quarterback, I too would be upset.

One team that could use him right away is the Kansas City Chiefs. If the team wants to compete against the Broncos, Chargers and the Raiders they are going to need more weapons for Alex Smith.

ESPN Chiefs blogger Adam Teicher reports A.J. Jenkins “hasn’t mounted any kind of challenge” for the No. 2 receiver job, which is another sign the Chiefs could use some help.

Donnie Avery has been consistent as the No. 2 wideout, with De’Anthony Thomas and Junior Hemingway getting looks in the slot. Jenkins was talked up as a possible starter in the offseason, but Teicher suggests the Chiefs aren’t ready to give up on Avery. 24-year-old Jenkins is due a $1.02 million base salary in 2014.

I don’t know about you, but If Andre Johnson is not worth a draft pick and the salary the team just saved by letting Brandon Flowers walk, then I don’t feel the team is serious about winning.
