Steelers new nose tackle has lost 62 pounds since high school

Daniel McCullers is a true nose tackle.  Shoot the kid stands at 6’7 and weighs in now at 352 pounds. That number is not what McCullers is used to.  At one point McCullers was 414 pounds and stood at 6’7, and that came in his senior year of high school.  Because he was so big, most major programs turned their head on him and passed on him.  He had to go play for Georgia Military to get his weight down, but he was determined to show he could do it.

“Waking up 5 o’clock every morning, running, working out with military officers, having formation every morning, marching every day, wearing uniforms,” McCullers told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I did it all. At first, I thought it was a lot with the uniform and everything, but it was my only option.”

After two years at Georgia Military McCullers had lost more than 50 pounds and had plenty of scholarship offers. He decided to play for Tennessee where he did pretty amazing. His play assisted him in getting drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.  He has lost a total of 62 pounds since high school, and if he can clog a hole with the determination it took him to lose weight watch out NFL.  That is a very big man to move around, good luck running on the Steelers.
