Draft Recap: NFL Draft Picks 24-32

We are in the final stretch of the 2014 NFL Draft’s 1st round, and the Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock with the 24th pick.  The Bengals selected Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State. This is a huge pick and was a no-brainer.  He will be a future Pro-Bowler.

The San Diego Chargers are on the clock but will they fill the defensive tackle need? There are only two defensive tackles on their roster, and there are some studs still on the board. The team failed to go for a defensive tackle and selected Jason Verrett the former TCU Horned Frog cornerback.  The Chargers will use him right away and this was a great NFL Draft Pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles are back on the clock after trading with the Cleveland Browns.  The Eagles selected Marcus Smith a linebacker from Louisville.  The fan were booing, but let me tell you this kid could be better than Jadeveon Clowney.  That is a shocker pick for some, but I love this kid.  He is a freak athlete, and will be a very good player for the Eagles.

Arizona Cardinals are on the clock after trading down with the Saints.  The Cardinals have been linked to quarterbacks, early in this draft process.  There are two very good prospects still on the clock with Teddy Bridgewater and Derek Carr. The Cardinals drafted Deone Bucannon the safety from Washington State.  This was not a big reach, because the Cards needed a safety bad.  Bucannon is a big hitter and will solidify this defense.

Carolina Panthers need offensive linemen, they need wide receivers, they need cornerbacks, they need basically everything you can think about.  The team needs a draft pick that is going to come in and make an impact right away. They selected Kelvin Benjamin the big wide out from Florida State.  They needed him, but over Marqise Lee?

The 29th pick is here and to be honest, anyone from this point going back, does not really need any players. These teams are set, but the Patriots will probably go best player available. The Patriots should select a defensive tackle, with both Louis Nix and Ra’Shede Hageman on the board the team selected Dominique Easley the defensive tackle from Florida.

San Francisco 49ers are maybe one player away from making it to the Super Bowl, and I think they need to get a cornerback.  With guys like Bradley Roby, and Pierre Desir still on the board, they should go this route, but if they go best player available Marqise Lee is still sitting there.  The 49ers selected defensive back Jimmie Ward from Northern Illinois.  They lost Donte Whitner in free agency, and Ward has the ability to play corner.

Denver Broncos were in the Super Bowl this year, and they had a very productive free agency, but they could use a defensive tackle.  If I am the Broncos I go best player available especially with the way the team performed last year. The Broncos took defensive back Bradley Roby, the tall cornerback from THE Ohio State University. This is a good pick, but I thought they would go defensive tackle.

The Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks could land a great player and former USC Trojan.  I don’t know how the team could pass on Marqise Lee, a guy that Pete Carroll brought to town.  Well the pick is in and the Seahawks did not wait to land another pick.  The Seahawks traded their first rounder to the Vikings for their second round pick and an additional 4th round pick.  The Vikings jump the Texans to select QB Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville.
