Pittsburgh Steelers release 3 veterans today to clear up space

Today the Pittsburgh Steelers released three veteran players to free up cap room, to assist with getting the team under the 133 million dollar salary cap.

The Steelers cut tackle Levi Brown who was acquired via trade last year but never played.  Levi Brown’s release frees up 6.25 million in cap space. This move was a no-brainer for the team.

The Steelers also released CB Curtis Brown and inside linebacker Larry Foote.  Foote was a very solid veteran for the team and his move saves the team 1.1 million.

With these three moves and the restructured deals of Troy Polamalu and Heath Miller the team should be under the cap.
