Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Reggie Jordan, TE, Missouri Western

NFL Draft Diamonds Spotlight Interview: Reggie Jordan, TE, Missouri Western

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?
Coming out of High School I had SEMO, UT- Martin and a couple other D2’s in the MIAA. I didn’t have good enough grades for many of the schools but Missouri Western gave me a chance.

How did you come to make your college decision?
I made my college decision because I felt at home during my visit and I really felt like the program was coming up, the griffon indoor complex helped a lot also.

Where are you training, and what are your goals for pro day/combines?
Right now I’m training with my strength and conditioning coach at Western. He’s got me this far so he obviously doing something right. A low 4.6 40 is what I’m aiming for, 24+ Reps on bench, and 35″ vert are a couple numbers I’m aiming to get.

Have any scouts met with you, and if so what are they saying?
I’ve met about 20+ scouts, they mostly talk about my blocking abilities. Most of them look at me as a joker type guy who moves around a lot and set up a lot of disadvantages.

At your position, what separates you from the others?
I think the simple fact that I’m very versatile that will sell the teams of my abilities. I could play some fullback or make plays from the slot. I could play H-back or even play special teams.

Tell us what you look for when breaking down film?
I look for consistent habits when I’m breaking down film on opponents. I feel like there’s very rarely a defense that does a lot of thing really good. It’s always one really strong thing that they feel works for them, then I work off of that.

If you could compare your play to one person in the NFL who would it be?
If I could compare myself to anyone in the NFL today it would be Jordan Reed for the Washington Redskins. I watched his game at University of Florida and felt like he and I had a lot of the same talents. Weird enough we’re around the same size and we have the same birthday.

What system fits your style of play the best?
I would love to be in an offensive scheme like the Patriots with their 2 tight end system. Just think of how productive Gronkowski and Hernandez were before they had issues.

What is your biggest strength?
My biggest strength is my blocking abilities.

What is your biggest weakness?
My biggest weakness is I’m not the traditional tight end size.

Growing up, who was your role model?
My role model growing up was Michael Jordan. I still till this day believe in some way we are related.

Who was your favorite team and player in the NFL and why?
My favorite team is the St. Louis Rams. I have 2 favorite players, my first is Jerry Rice simply because he wasn’t the fastest or biggest WR but he did all the little things right to get open and make plays. My other favorite play is Adrian Peterson, he runs like every play is his last play also I don’t think he’s completely human.

If you were to have dinner with three people dead or alive who would it be?
If I could have dinner with 3 people dead or alive I would have dinner with Martin Luther King, Michael Jordan and Tupac.

What would you buy with your first NFL paycheck?
With my first NFL paycheck I would wait to the second check and buy a car. Nothing too flashy just something more reliable than the vehicle I have right now.
