Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Qua Cox, CB, Jackson State University

quaDraft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Qua Cox, CB, Jackson State University

Qua Cox is the best man to man cover corner in college football. I have been saying it all year.  While many continue to sleep on Cox, the kid continues to shine.  He might not have the fastest forty time, but the kid can cover.  He went up against the best wide receivers in the SWAC and was able to go head to head.  The Jackson State University football program went to the Championship and came up short in overtime.  I expect Qua Cox to make a huge impact on an NFL team early in his career, especially in coverage.

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

2 schools.

Where did you choose and why?

I choose Jackson State because,I wanted to get away from home & out of the two schools Jackson State was the best fit for me at the time.

What are your goals for your senior year?

Was to win the SWAC championship game & Graduate.

Have any scouts met with you, and if so what are they saying?

I have met with 27 scouts, main questions have been: how would I match up with big WR’s being 5’10 & asking to know my 40 time.

At your position, what separates you from the others?

The thing about me that separate me from others is that I’m a very aggressive CB. I love to play man 2 man & every chance I get to walk down in a WR face its going to be a long day for that WR.

Tell us what you look for when breaking down film?

QB progressions & WR tendencies Releases,Route combinations, who’s Getting ball % on D&D, favorite formation & who lines up where, how teams attack man2man press & pressures/zones!!

Who was the toughest player you have ever faced?

Rico Richardson

If you could compare your play to one person in the NFL who would it be?

Janoris Jenkins.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Growing up in a small city where it’s not much offered outside of school to younger kids & being able to be where I am today, without that I’m truly blessed. And One-Day would love to be able to help change that .

What system fits your style of play the best?

Man 2 Man

What is your biggest strength?

Press Man 2 Man & Attacking the ball & Confidence.

What is your biggest weakness?

Has a face that always looks angry.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I’m a great athlete on/off field, who loves football and knows what it takes to be a champion.

Growing up, who was your role model?

My brother James Patrick.

Who was your favorite team and player in the NFL and why?

Deion Sanders / put it on tape & help won championships!

What was the most tragic event that ever happened in your life and how did you overcome it?

Not getting an offer from Bigger schools after the consistent play I put on film every year.

With your first paycheck what would you buy?

House
