Packers tight end Andrew Quarless is ready to step in and fill the shoes of Finley

At the tight end position the Green Bay Packers have three healthy options in fourth-year veteran Andrew Quarless, first-year pro Brandon Bostick and rookie Jake Stoneburner, who was promoted from the practice squad last week.

Quarless has the most experience of the reserves and will receive his eighth career start against the Vikings. A fifth-round pick in 2010, the 6-foot-4, 252-pounder stepped in for an injured Finley as a rookie, producing his best season to date (21 catches for 238 yards and one touchdown).

The 25-year-old missed the entire 2012 season after blowing out his knee at the end of his sophomore campaign, but has four catches for 28 yards in six games this season, but he is ready to fill the shoes of the starter.

“I told (Finley) that night in the hospital, the way you’ve been playing the last couple of games really inspired me,” Quarless said. “All I can really do as far as that is just try to match what he was doing for my teammates, for him, just for everybody, really try to match that intensity. The way he was playing was amazing, so I’m just going to try to match that.”

Quarless should be able to have a good game this week against the Vikings secondary who have been horrid.
