Could the Saints cut or trade Pierre Thomas?

piereThe NFL always has injuries at the running back position, but lately the running back has been getting undervalued. One players that has performed since entering the NFL is now dropping on his teams depth chart. According to the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, Pierre Thomas is falling down the depth chart.

What Friday did show is that Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson continue to pull away from Pierre Thomas, who did not make the trip Friday for unspecified reasons.

“Overall, we knew we would be splitting the better part of the half because Pierre (Thomas) was not going to play, and we end up doing it,” Payton said.

Thomas by far outpaced Robinson and Ingram in snaps last season, taking 564 offensive snaps before missing the final two playoff games with a chest injury. Ingram, who missed five games with a toe injury, had 230 snaps. Robinson was inactive for six games and had no snaps in another, finishing with 91.

So here is my question, could the Saints deal Pierre Thomas since the team does have Travaris Cadet on their roster who is a special team’s back?  Why not try to unload his salary and pick up a draft pick?  The biggest question is what could the Saints receive for Thomas?  There are several teams that could use a running back, one team that comes to mind is the Tennessee Titans, another is the Cardinals.  Would they be willing to give up a draft pick for a very solid scat back?  Probably if the price was right.
