NFL teams have only a few more days to evaluate their rosters
NFL teams are officially less than one week away from their first roster cutdown deadline. On Tuesday, August 26, NFL teams have to cut down to 75 players by 1 p.m. PT. That is followed by the 53-man cut down on Saturday, August 30.
The cut down to 75 players is likely to include both complete roster cuts, and players moved to different injury lists. This is going to be very hard for several teams, but at the end of the day it is needed. If you are released in the first wave, the team is usually doing the player a favor. They might know they are too deep at the position and give the player a chance to get claimed by another team.
On Tuesday a total of 48o players will be without a job. This is a hard pill to swallow for some but remember the practice squad has increased to 10 players, which gives back 64 of those jobs.
