Should the NFL allow players to wear custom facemasks in the pre-season?

masksCustom facemasks are the coolest things in football if you ask me, and our friends at www.bamasks.com have been making some amazing custom face masks for college and NFL players over the past several months, but there is one big problem.  Roger Goodell on his path to make the NFL the no fun league, has banned custom masks in the NFL.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote an email last August to NFL.com and NFL Network that the face mask Robert Mathis has used throughout training camp “was considered a prohibited non-standard customized face mask.”

“A player would need a medical reason to wear this type of face mask,” McCarthy added about Mathis’ gear, which covers up just about everything on his face except his eyes.

Several NFL players, including Darnell Dockett of the Arizona Cardinals (Bad Ass Masks designed) and DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys, have tried similar face masks, and those also will be disallowed. However, McCarthy said Baltimore Ravens defensive end Chris Canty and New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck “both applied for medical clearance for their face masks and it was granted.”

So here is my question, do you think NFL teams and players should be allowed to utilize the custom masks in the pre-season?  I mean could you imagine the Oakland Raiders players coming out the tunnel with one of these Bad Ass custom masks on?

It would make the pre-season fun for the players, as well as the fans.  It would give the media something to talk about during the preseason, like who had the best mask design.  Honestly could it hurt the NFL’s billion dollar industry?

I don’t know who I need to propose this idea too, but if you are a football player and want to get a custom mask, make sure you hit up our friend Alan and tell him NFL DRAFT DIAMONDS sent you.
