NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Report: Kevin King, CB, University of Washington

Scouting Report: Kevin King, CB, University of Washington

Summary: Kevin King was part of one of the best secondary’s in college football, and the driving force behind the success for the Washington Huskies. King stands apart from other corners at 6’3 190 pounds. Over his 4 years at the University of Washington, King accumulated 164 tackles and 6 interceptions per Sports-Reference.com .

Pros:

  • – Great size
  • – Great Length
  • – Nice Speed
  • – Good at locating ball and swatting it away
  • – Good at anticipating passes and reading QB especially in zone.
  • – Good tackler

Cons:

  • – Struggles in press
  • – Has slow feet which leads to him being beat at the line of scrimmage
  • – Played along side Sidney Jones which limited him to usually the secondary receivers on an opposing team.

Comparison: Richard Sherman

In the NFL: At the next level I expect King to be a very solid corner who will usually stick to one side of the field and can match up with bigger receivers and tight ends. King will be a guy who excels in zone coverage and will be a playmaker for an NFL team. King will most likely go late second round or early third round.
