Joe Montana calls out the City of San Francisco for not keeping the team in city

The 49ers are in their final season at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. After this year they are gone. They will move to Santa Clara which is about 40 miles south of San Francisco.

At a forum for European NFL fans, Montana, said the former decision makers in San Francisco “made a terrible effort” to keep the team in the city.

The Former QB said he thought the city wasted an opportunity to build a sports mecca downtown. Major League Baseball’s Giants are thriving downtown and the Golden State Warriors are moving into a downtown arena.

Even though he said later on he is excited, he still let the cuty know how he felt. He did throw a jab at the Raiders though. He said this about Santa Clara; “it’s not like they went to Oakland.”
