Last year I chose the Ravens against the Falcons in the Super Bowl, and boy was I super close. I had the Falcons winning it all, but last year the Baltimore Ravens were able to take home the rings and trophy. Well this year, there are going to be some shockers but hang in there, I think I have a pretty good lock on this. Maybe I am wrong…..
AFC EAST Champs – I am going to take the Patriots, even though I cannot stand them. I just think that the Belichick/Brady combo is still at it’s all time high. They will always find a way to get players to play. I think they win, but not by much in this division, there is a team on their heels, but probably not who you expected in the East.
AFC North Champs – Ravens, I love you deeply because you have a very solid OLB on your injured reserve, but this is not your year. I am taking the Bengals to win the North this year. I don’t think the Steelers will be in contention at all. They are going through a re-build.
AFC South Champs – Houston Texans should have no problem coming out the division but they have the Indianapolis Colts right on their back side. The Texans found a way to get out of the division on top and will represent the South.
AFC West Champs – I am not going to write too much in this response because it is super obvious that the Broncos come out the West. Almost everyone has them going to the Super Bowl.
AFC Wild Card #1 – Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Luck are here folks. The Luck era is no joke, they finally added a solid running back to take over which will help Luck. The defense is suspect but I feel they will do enough to keep the team in the game.
AFC Wild Card #2 – The Buffalo Bills finally get out of the gutter. Yes, I am calling an upset. With a new regime and a brand new front office the up tempo Bills will be enough to get through the division that was once known as a powerhouse. With problems in New York with Rexy Baby and the Dolphins overpaying for everyone, the Bills will be in second place. They will also beat the Patriots week one with rookie EJ Manuel, which will start the trend in Buffalo.
AFC Champions – Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning are able to pull enough strings to get passed the first six weeks. Losing Dumervil and Von Miller is going to hurt, but it will not count out the Broncos. Shaun Phillips will step up and apply pressure off the edge. Congrats Peyton you are back in the big game.
NFC East Champs – Dallas Cowboys led by Dez Bryant will be too much for the Redskins and Giants this year. Michael Irvin was right when he predicted Dez to have a huge season. I agree with that assumption and it will surprise you how much I like the Cowboys, just keep reading.
NFC North Champs – As long as the Packers have Aaron Rodgers at the quarterback position, it will be hard to take them out of this spot. He is a dominate quarterback, but if something happens to him, they could drop off the face of the earth. Trust me Seneca Wallace will not get you to the Championship.
NFC South Champs – Matt Ryan and company were my selection last year to win the Super Bowl. I was very close, but I still have them winning the South. The Falcons defense is getting better and the team is solid. They added a running back which will take pressure off of Ryan.
NFC West Champs – Seattle Seahawks will come out of the West. I think teams are going to figure out Kaepernick in San Fran, but that defense will keep them in the games. I have the Niners in it but can they get it done, and get back to the Championship?
NFC Wild Card #1 – San Francisco 49ers led by a very veteran defense will be what gets the Niners in the playoffs. Teams are going to find a way to apply pressure on Kaepernick and make him get flustered. The Niners defense is nasty, but is it good enough to win it all?
NFC Wild Card #2 – Washington Redskins led by RG3 will surprise people this year. They will beat out the Giants to get into the last wild card spot. I can see RG3 shining this year, and winning a prestigious award as well.
NFC Champions – While I think it would be great to see Seattle Seahawks go into this game facing Peyton Manning and the Broncos, they can’t make it past the Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys led by Tony Romo and Dez Bryant will do just enough to get past the Hawks. The Cowboys are back, and they did it under Tony Romo and company.
SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS – I am sorry Dallas Cowboys fans, while it was an amazing run, it is not enough to get past Peyton Manning and his high powered striking attack. The Cowboys lose 24-21 in the Super Bowl. Dez Bryant has 12 receptions for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns, but it is not enough to get them past Manning and company.
SUPER BOWL MVP – Peyton Manning – Finishes the game 42-56, 402 yards, 3 touchdowns and 14 yard rushing
NFL MVP – Dez Bryant breaks out this year, has one of the craziest years ever for a wide receiver. Bryant has 156 receptions for 2029 yards. He breaks Calvin Johnson’s record that was set in 2012 with 1964 yards. Bryant also scores 21 touchdowns in the regular season.
Offensive MVP – Tony Romo throws for 5,000 yards and 40 plus touchdowns. While this might sound insane, the Cowboys have a very solid attacking team this year. That defense will be what slows them down if anything.
Defensive MVP – Aldon Smith does what he says and hits 20 sacks. Smith was used on a rotational setting last season and was still and amazing player. Remember I said the Niners wins will depend on the defense. Smith made sure they got to the quarterback.
Offensive Rookie of the YEAR – We love the under dog stories, and our offensive rookie of the year is just that. We had the pleasure to sit down with him before the draft, and he has become very close with Tom Brady. His name is Kenbrell Thompkins. I am going out on a limb here and saying that the undrafted free agent from Cincinnati will win ROY.
Tom Brady loves this kid, he has a nickname and everything for him. “KT” is no joke people, remember the name, he will get the ball early in often with Gronk and Hernandez missing.
Defensive Rookie of the YEAR – When picking the ROY on defense you need to find a person that is going to get tons of playing time. Also someone that is going to produce a stat line. I watched the preseason games and have been keeping an eye on a defender from Oregon. That’s right Oregon who has produced quite a bit when in the game. His name is Kiko Alonso, from the Buffalo Bills. Alonso is being thrown to the wolves so to speak, as he is already entrenched as the starting Mike linebacker. In a Mike Pettine defense, Alonso will need to play at a high level. This kid has a motor, and I see him getting 100 plus tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and 4 interceptions in his rookie year. Huge year for the Bills and one of the reasons the team makes it to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.
Coach of the Year – John Fox of the Broncos will win coach of the year. Fox takes the Broncos on a 14-2 record and his loses were the first two games of the year. They were able to come back and win 14 straight to win the division.
Comeback Player of the Year – Robert Griffin III will comeback stronger than ever. While people thought his knee injury was horrible, he never lost faith. The guy has that “IT” Factor and was good enough to lead his team back to the playoffs via the wild card spot.
While these are only predictions, I would like to hear your thoughts. Where they horrible? Do I stink? Let me know via twitter @drocksthaparty and let me know what your predictions are…..
