If 49ers land Eric Decker they would become favorites to win Super Bowl
Eric Decker of the Denver Broncos is likely gone, amd with Anquan Boldin getting older in age, maybe this would be a perfect time to bring in a star at the position?
The Niners would have to make some money and I think they could by cutting just two players. One of which is Jonathan Baldwin who Decker would replace.
Wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2014, which comes with a $1.4 million cap hit. Which is jot nearly enough to sign anyone, but if the niners cut Carlos Rogers and draft a solid corner in the firat round they could get younger and improve both sides of the ball.
Cutting Rogers, who will turn 33 years old in July, will provide the 49ers with north of $5 million in cap relief.
If they can trade him for anything at all, it’d create over $8 million in space and net them something in return (but that is doubtful). It’ll likely come down to an outright release. And with him being the weakest link in the secondary, it should still make for a relatively painless decision by the front office.
That could be a saving of almost 10 million, I am sure you could get Decker in town for that and maybe a little less since the Niners are the second best team in the NFL?
