Are the Houston Texans the team in love with Tom Savage?

Pittsburgh Panthers QB Tom Savage’s stock has been rising, and teams are falling in love with the strong armed quarterback. Well according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Tom Savage has been invited to the NFL Draft in New York.

According to Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the former Pitt passer has been invited to New York for the draft, but hasn’t decided whether he’ll attend.

This report comes a week after his agent Neil Schwartz stated that he had to turn down visits with teams because he didn’t have enough time.  This also comes after Gil Brandt of NFL.com reported that Savage was a top 40 pick.

So I looked at the teams in the top 40 and tried to figure out who would take Savage, but then Adam Schefter of ESPN.com assisted me.  ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live Thursday that the “prevailing thought around the league” is the Texans will “take a defensive player or look to trade out” at the No. 1 overall pick.

So that basically means the Houston Texans are leaning towards drafting a defensive player, either Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack with the first overall pick.  So they will need a quarterback right?  Well if that does come true, the Texans could get lucky and have one of the four quarterbacks land with them at the 33rd pick.  But if Johnny Manziel, Derek Carr, Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles are all gone, maybe their guy is Tom Savage?

Think about it, it makes sense.  Another team that could go after Savage is the Raiders, besides that I cannot think of a team willing to draft Savage that high.
