Formations Fantasy Football Review: Denver Broncos Edition

The Denver Broncos are a fantasy football owner’s dream. From Peyton Manning to Demaryius Thomas and beyond, there are many difference makers on this team. Here’s a closer look at a few that could really help your team.

Star: Montee Ball (RB)

13 Stats: 12 carries-559 yards-4 TD, 26 catches-141 yards-1 TD

Why He’s a Star: People who drafted Montee Ball last year had a rude awakening in the name of Knowshon Moreno. While he had his moments, Ball did not live up to his rookie potential. This is a new year though. Moreno is gone and Ball is the featured back. It would not be shocking to see him double all of the numbers above. He has the potential to be a high-end RB1.

Avoid: Emmanuel Sanders (WR)

13 Stats: 67 receptions-790 yards-6 TDs (with Pittsburgh)

Why to Avoid: Sanders probably felt like he won the lottery after signing with the Peyton Manning led Broncos. He is slated to be the slot receiver and could potentially put up quality numbers. Even though Manning likes to spread the ball around, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, and Julius Thomas may see extra targets. Cody Latimer may steal targets as the year goes as well. Don’t count on Sanders being any more than a low WR3.

Sleeper: Cody Latimer (WR)

Why He’s A Sleeper: Cody Latimer is currently fourth on the Bronco WR depth chart. However, he has the hands and talent to leap over Emmanuel Sanders by the end of the year. He is especially appealing in a dynasty league setting. Latimer is worth a stash on your bench.

IDP to Watch: DeMarcus Ware (DL)

13 Stats: 28 tackles-12 assists-6 sacks-1 INT (with Dallas)

Why: Ware missed three games with the Cowboys last year. He also had his lowest sack total of his career. Ware took his talents to Denver in the offseason and is in an ideal situation. He can play on a quality defense and get back to double-digit sacks. Being listed as a DL helps his cause as well.
