Eagles get really luck with Evan Mathis injury, but not good news on Barbre

mathisThe Philadelphia Eagles feared for the worst with Evan Mathis the teams starting guard.  This could have been a huge loss, but the Eagles walk away with great news. People believe that it is just an MCL injury, which is what Bryan Bulaga has for the Green Bay Packers. It is believed to take 4-6 weeks to get better.

“From what I understand, it’s not a [Jeremy Maclin] situation where Evan is done for the year,” Kelly said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer. “We just need to weather the storm.”

The Eagles are likely going to be without Mathis for awhile, which means Matt Tobin or Dennis Kelly will start at left guard for the next couple games. Tobin is a favorite of offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, while Dennis Kelly has some starting experience under his belt.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that there is concern that right tackle Allen Barbre “could be out for a while” after injuring his ankle in Sunday’s victory over the Jaguars. Per McLane, Barbre suffered a high ankle sprain and is set to see a specialist who will give him and the team a better idea about his availability in the coming weeks.
