Titans want no part of HBO Hardknocks

Eight teams are eligible for Hard Knocks this year, but Titans are not interested

There are only eight teams that qualify to take part on HBO’s Hard Knocks and one is already saying they want no part of it. The Titans do not want any distractions.

“I just think that’s an unnecessary distraction for us,” head coach Mike Mularkey said on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville on Wednesday. “I’m not sure how that it will pan out. If that’s the case and we have to do that, we’ll do it. But we’re not going to volunteer.”

I love this because the Titans are on the right path, they will be a tough team in the years to come.  I like the way this team is heading.

Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota both suffered a broken leg during today’s game

The Oakland Raiders and the Tennessee Titans were both in great shape for the playoffs before the day started.

The Raiders were already in, while the Titans were fighting for a spot.  The both suffered a bigger loss on the field.

Both Marcus Mariota and Derek Carr, two young quarterbacks both suffered broken fibula’s. They will both miss several weeks.

Andre Johnson has retired from the NFL after 14 seasons

Today Andre Johnson the former Houston Texans draft pick and future Hall of Famer walked away from the NFL after 14 seasons.

Jon Robinson, the General Manager of the Titans has retired:

“Going back to his days at the University of Miami, Andre was one of the most impressive wide receivers I’ve scouted,” Titans general manager Jon Robinson said in a statement. “He had a professional approach to the game both on and off the field and in my opinion is one of the best to have played the game. I enjoyed getting to know and work with him in his time with our team. He certainly contributed to this team — making the game-winning catch at Detroit and his daily interaction with the young wide receivers. We wish him nothing but the best moving forward in whatever endeavors he chooses.”

He finishes with career totals of 1,062 catches for 14,185 yards and 70 receiving touchdowns.

DeMarco Murray thought he was going to return to the Cowboys

DeMarco Murray has been doing very good with the Tennessee Titans, but the former Cowboys runner was confident he was going back to the Cowboys after his stint with the Eagles.

“It was like 95 percent sure I was going to come back there,” Murray told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram this week. “I have a lot of respect for those guys —€” the Jones family, Will [McClay], Coach [Jason] Garrett obviously and [Tony] Romo and Wit [Jason Witten], all those guys. I still consider them a great franchise, and they’re great friends of mine.

“I was very close to going back there. There were some things that fell through and just didn’t happen. I think everything happens for a reason. I’m here [in Tennessee], and I’m supposed to be here. They’ve got a pretty good young back over there as well.”

It worked out the best for both teams because both Murray and Zeke Elliott have been playing well for their teams.  It is just crazy to think that the Cowboys could have had their man back for a fourth rounder.  I want to know something though. Would DeMarco Murray be leading the NFL in yards if he was a Cowboy this year?  What are your thoughts?

Bobby April is known as one of the best special teams coordinators in the NFL, but the Titans have relieved him of his duties.

Special teams assistant Steve Hoffman will take over April’s job. The Titans have been better in their own return game – they rank 12th in average kick return (22.3 yards) and 18th in average punt return (8.6).

April was in his first season with the Titans and his 25th season in the NFL. He was with the New York Jets in 2015.

April and Titans head coach Mike Mularkey worked together at Buffalo, when Mularkey was head coach from 2004-05 for the Bills.
