Browns are trying to extend Brian Hoyer to a long term deal
What does extending Brian Hoyer mean for Johnny Manziel? It means he could be waiting a little longer to get his opportunity as the starter in Cleveland. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Browns want to sign Hoyer to an extension, as he heads into the final year of his contract.
If the deal comes down before camp, the numbers alone should tell you about his long-term job prospects, and also send a very big message to Johnny Manziel. I am not sure what the Browns are doing, because if Hoyer does not pan out the Browns could be in a situation similar to the Buffalo Bills with the way they handled Ryan Fitzpatrick’s deal.
